Rich Fiore, former President and Founder of the Hofstra University Baseball Club, enters his fifth season as manager of the team in 2011. The 2010 season was yet another success, as for the third year in a row, Hofstra finished with a winning percentage above .700. The 12-3 record posted by the Pride in 2010 was the highest winning percentage in conference play to date (.800). His 2009 team finished in first place in their division as the Pride advanced to the 2009 NCBA Division II World Series in Butler, PA. After starting the season 1-2, the team went on a brilliant run winning 6 of their last 7 conference games; including a sweep of first place UConn in the final weekend of conference play to clinch the conference. The team cruised down the stretch before being eliminated in the 3rd game of the World Series by streaking VCU. 2008 was also a very successful season for Fiore as he led the club 13-5 conference record. While the club lost the division in the final week of the season to NYU, the season was still a success as the club compiled a .722 winning percentage in their first season of NCBA Division II. One of Fiore’s greatest coaching accomplishments was managing a pitching staff that held opponents to a 2.92 conference ERA in 2008. At least one player has been promoted to the varsity program in each season of Fiore's tenure. Overall, Fiore has compiled a 33-11 (.717) conference record and a 61-53 (.532) overall record at the helm of Hofstra’s club baseball program. Hofstra’s 1-2 start in 2009 remains as the only time the team has ever been below .500; this lasted for only one game. Since the program's inauguration in 2006, Fiore has upgraded every facet of the program, including a strong non-conference schedule of 25+ games each fall. As a player at Hofstra, Fiore compiled a .336 (48-143) career batting average, batting over .310 in every season. Fiore anchored third base in his first season with the Pride in 2007 before injuries limited his playing time as a designated hitter. His 42 career RBI stood as a club record until broken in 2010 by Sam Giese. As a student, Fiore provided the foundation for the successful team that Hofstra Club Baseball has become today. As a Sophomore at Hofstra, rich decided to start the club program to provide students with a different level of baseball compared to what was previously offered. Not expecting anything huge to come out of this, Fiore's team had a sucessful first "test" season in 2007, going 5-8 in a semester of all non-conference games. The following year, Hofstra joined the NCBA and has since been recognized as not only one of the most well run NCBA Baseball programs, but also one of the most organized, professional, and successful student organizations at Hofstra University. Outside of Hofstra, Fiore represents the NCBA as the Division II Teams Rules Committee Representative. Each season, Fiore provides the NCBA with input from all Division II baseball teams to help improve the already outstanding level of play in NCBA Division II. Fiore graduated from Hofstra University with a B.A. in Political Science, minor in General Business, and an ABA Paralegal Certification. He currently resides in Shelton, CT and works full time as a Paralegal. When not busy leading his team to victory in the field, Fiore enjoys attending sporting events, music, golfing, movies, studying law, video games, and socializing. He also plans to attend Law School. Fiore is also a diehard New York Yankees fan. Rich Fiore Player Statistics
