Rich Fiore, former President and Founder of the Hofstra University Baseball Club, enters his fourth season as head of the team. The 2009 season was one of Fiore’s most successful seasons to date. His 2009 team finished in first place in their division and he led Hofstra to their first ever NCBA World Series. The team cruised down the stretch before being eliminated in the 3rd game of the World Series by streaking VCU. 2008 was also a
very successful season for Fiore as he led the club 13-5 conference
record, their best regular season record to date. While the club lost
the division in the final week of the season to NYU, the season was
still a success as the club compiled a .722 winning percentage in their
first season of NCBA Division II. One of Fiore’s greatest coaching
accomplishments was managing a pitching staff that held opponents to a
2.92 conference ERA Overall, Fiore has compiled a 21-10 (.677) overall conference record at the helm of Hofstra’s club baseball program. Hofstra’s 1-2 start in 2009 remains as the only time the team had been below .500; this lasted for one game as Hofstra would win six of their next seven. Since the program's inauguration in 2006, Fiore has upgraded every facet of the program, including a strong non-conference schedule of 25+ games each fall.
Outside of Hofstra, Fiore represents the NCBA as the Division II Teams Rules Committee Representative. Each season, Fiore provides the NCBA with input from all Division II baseball teams to help improve the already outstanding level of play in NCBA Division II. Fiore graduated from Hofstra University with a B.A. in Political Science and a Paralegal Certification. He currently resides in Shelton, CT. When not busy leading his team to victory in the field, Fiore enjoys attending sporting events, music, golfing, movies, studying law, video games, and socializing. He also plans to attend Law School. Fiore is also a diehard New York Yankees fan.
